Exquisite repetitious dead ends recorded using the Roland System 100M synthesiser, with LFOs triggering S&H circuits triggering sequencers. Founded on lurching two-note motifs, each piece is worked and modulated to bring forth the system's textural intricacies, shifting emphasis between the humming innards and the serrated edges. It's a studious exercise cloaked in the aesthetic of an application fault - blunt and monochromatic on first acquaintance, then gradually unveiling its more subdued hues as Rayner-Law's acquaintance with the machine's idiosyncrasies starts to deepen. The end result is a kind of grey cloud texture, shifting unfixed elements within a larger massive whole. Tributes to two renowned players of the System 100 are tucked into the track titles: Chris Carter, Keith Levene.

George Rayner-Law is a sound worker from South London. He co-operates Brachliegen Tapes and is one half of Degradation.

Probably one of the most "Big Deals" as far as I know being a BC user. For a ridiculous price—four bucks—you get 40 awesome tracks under SP's signature with all its meaning. This compilation is a really MUST-HAVE. My favorite track has been chosen by pure randomness. Enjoy this gift! sjah83
