35 minutes of overcast pastoral shimmer, centring on the inexorable decay and renewal of the loop. The guitar is off in the distance somewhere, concealed in the darkness of the hollow while we listen at the entrance, the amplifier output swirled into reflections of wet stone, mingling the Leytonstone of the present with compounded iterations of its past.

'echoes throughout the caverns of leytonstone' began as the "lofi bedroom dronegazing" alias of Leytonstoner James Shearman in 2012. The alias has become slightly less murky and crumbling than it's earliest forays - and has left the bedroom to perform in venues across the UK - but it has retained a focus on transcendental, slow-moving drone produced primarily with guitar.

have yet to translate the song titles so the artist's intentions are somewhat of a mystery to me, but the wavering surface noise creates the theme of a dialogue between music & technology before becoming invisible to my ears. this conjures memories of listening to music as a child (long before the sterility of digital media), when i rarely took notice of the hiss & pops of records, 8-tracks, tapes, & am radio because they were a normal, necessary aspect of recorded sound. nice to be back again.
