YET consists of two pieces created during Demetrio Cecchitelli’s residency at WORM, Rotterdam in May 2023, each adopting a different angle on the repetitive/persistent remit. The first features a handmade string instrument with “an uncertain tuning and detuned chords” – a cascade of sporadic chimes like a bell tower at half-speed, each pluck overlapping with the last, forming momentary pools of intermingled frequency. The second piece centres on analog synthesis, inverting the emphasis on attack and decay to focus instead on howling continuity, like tides crashing somewhere the dark. The halves are bound by their adherence to a common gravity. Low frequencies compound into a thick downward drag, with “YET” situating itself above a basin of impenetrable shadow.

Demetrio Cecchitelli (b. 1997) is an Italian musician whose research in the field of sound has been applied to different kinds of media (discography, live set, audio vision, installation, radio, theatre). Released worldwide on numerous record labels across Europe, United Kingdom, United States / North America, Japan. Performed in various contexts of the European electronic music area.
